Working for Salto Ulbeek publishers in Belgium and in collaboration with the Royal Geographical Society in London and the Scott Polar Research Institute in the University of Cambridge, I am co-editor of an ongoing publishing project to secure the preservation and appreciation of important early Antarctic photography negative collections using the platinum palladium printing process. So far, these collections include the photographs taken by Herbert Ponting, who accompanied Captain Scott on his fateful Terra Nova expedition of 1910-1913; by Captain Scott himself; and by Frank Hurley, Ernest Shackleton’s photographer on the Endurance expedition of 1914-1917.
